red admiral

a red admiral feeding on hemp agrimony in the early morning sun. It is hot and humid, and thunderstorms are on their way here. Knowing England this is the end of summer.

We've seen a few Red Admirals in the last few days, some in the Woodland near the ford at Newbridge and one in the garden today. Imogen seems to think David Attenborough said they are now rare. Is she right?

I don't think so, there are always plenty around, especially on buddleia; white admirals maybe ... I have yet to see one.
