August moon

these activities start under the auspicious influence of the new moon (the sturgeon moon, can this be right?) Surgeon moon maybe, for all our friends in hospital.

I am afraid not, Spot. It is called the 'sturgeon moon' simply because the sturgeon are most likely to be caught in this, the August moon.

It is also called the 'Full Red Moon' because, as the Moon rises, it appears reddish through any sultry haze. It has also been called the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon, but never the surgeon moon. Sorry.

There is however, Spot, the 'Plastic Surgeons Moon Township', in Pennsylvania, USA, famous for breast enhancement surgery. But that need not concern us now. Or any time, for that matter. Walkies. Rationalist.
